ALOHA!

My name is Christopher Blunt and I’m originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Traveling at a young age to Indonesia in the late 1970’s was how I found the magic of the Javanese Shadow puppet and German artist Walter Spies’ work leaving an impression not realized at the time. I started to sketch this style of work in middle school and dabbled over the years not seriously until re-development of the sketches needed to be created. Having moved to Hawaii in the late 1990’s, I had distant aspirations to sketch out these modern/Hawaiian/Indonesian/tropical influenced pieces you see today.

I currently live in Kona with my wife Kerstin and my daughter Elonna. Other activities I enjoy include gardening, road biking, hiking, swimming, surfing, boating and the guitar. - Christopher Blunt

When I start drawing a new piece, I often don’t know how the end product will look like. The inspiration and information is like a download...I receive it and then let the art come to paper.
